Getting pregnant is not simple as you think it would be. For you to fully enjoy the joys and thrills of your pregnancy, it is important that you plan ahead.

Planning your pregnancy is the best thing you can do for the baby you are hoping for. This will help create a healthy environment for the fetus, prevent birth defects and other pregnancy related problems. Planning your pregnancy will also lessen the anxieties that naturally come with changes.

Here are a few things to ponder when planning your pregnancy.

Make sure you start a healthy eating and dieting practice. Health Foods are not only immune boosting; they also have positive effects on a woman’s fertility.
  • Stress is one major factor why a lot of women who wants to conceive, cant. Stress causes a lot of bad things to happen to your body, so better take a deep breath and decide to reduce stress. Yoga has helped a lot of women manage their stress well. Walking and other exercise should be a part of your everyday routine when planning your pregnancy.  Look for ways to lessen your stress and decide to stick to it.
  • It takes two to tango, so you and your partner should decide together when planning your pregnancy. However, if you are like me who just wanted to have a baby no matter what (my biological clock is ticking away), make sure that part of your planning is have someone near you during your pregnancy. Someone capable who can help you emotionally and physically when challenges come along.
  • If you have been using contraceptives, then decide to stop. Planning your pregnancy also means making a chart of your menstrual cycle for you to know your ovulation period. Generally, ovulation happens between 11 and 21 days after your last period. It can be different for every woman and fertility days are usually the days just before and during ovulation.
  • It is very important to check your living quarters when planning your pregnancy. Changes may be needed to be made to accommodate the space your newborn baby needs.  Make sure also that your home is clean and free from toxic elements like lead. From your house paints to tap water. Though most paints now claim they are lead free, it is best to make sure as lead is toxic to your health and your baby.
